Valerie Will POV

Liam and I were just having a lazy Saturday, eating popcorn and watching our favorite TV show. Suddenly, there was a soft knock on the door.

I wasn’t expecting anyone, so I was curious to know who was at the door. It wasn’t Jamal because he was spending the morning with his mother at the hospital.

I exhaled sharply and stood up from the couch.

When I got to the door, I peeked through the blinds and was confused when I saw two men in suits standing on the porch.

I opened the door slightly and poked my head outside. “How can I help you?” I asked, my voice cautious. I needed to be careful in case they were bad people.
