Chapter 25. The Return of the Old Self

Allison had never imagined hearing from others how stupid she was could be this hurtful. Even so, she tried to stand firm and suppress her tears, but it was futile as her tears started to trickle down her face.

Allison lifted her head and met Brent's eyes, but all she could see in them was pity. Her mind became haywire at the thought that Nathan was probably right, that Brent was really changing her into someone else. Only then did it sink into her that it was all Brent wanted in the very beginning. Allison didn't want to live just as someone else's shadow, but she didn't want to return to being a nerd either.

Despite Allison's request to be alone, Brent still took a step closer to her.

With her head bowed, she shook her head and begged, "Please, Brent. Even just for now, I want to be alone."
