Chapter 2. The Pregnancy Test
Days, weeks, and months had passed ever since the bewildering night happened. Two months to be exact. Allison, who was still surprised by the odd night, tried and chose to forget everything that had happened. As if she did not lose anything, as if it would not be a big deal for many.
Until the very day, she was not sure what truly transpired. There were a lot of questions but what was the most important for her was to have peace in her life. To fully have that, she needed to forget that once she woke up in bed with the Thompson cousins.
"God, I swear I'd really lose my mind if they remember what happened," she whispered to herself while printing the papers that were asked to her inside the building of the corporation.
At first, Allison was almost thinking of quitting because she might encounter the cousins. But in the full two months, none of them cornered her about it. That was when she realized that none of the jerks know what arose that particular night.
Oftentimes, she bumped into them on campus and even at work, but they just treated her like an air passing, just like before. And she did not know being treated like a wind would make her that happy!
The building of Thompsons Corporation was the same as the other days. The employees were also good and very professional, so she did not have to think of anything.
Since it was a non-class day, she decided to go to work to earn extra money, something she needed.
After putting the printed paper on the table, her supervisor saw her again and beckoned her to come nearer.
"Allison, come here for a moment."
Without further ado, she stepped closer and smiled politely.
"Get the signed papers in the Board Room, I forgot to get them in the meeting earlier."
"Sure, Ma'am," she mumbled back and quickly left to do what she was told.
It was on the upper floor so she needed to use the elevator first and when she finally arrived in front of the door, she heard some voices from the inside.
Since the door was slightly opened, she could hear faint voices. At first, she thought that some higher-ups were still in a meeting. Curious enough, she came nearer to hear what it was about.
"Are you sure it was Allison?"
"How many times do I have to tell you?"
Her eyes widened and her heart was racing so fast when she heard her name.
'What? Are they talking about me? Is it a different person? A different Allison, maybe?'
Curiosity had already eaten her when she tried to look more through the small space that the door had. But she hoped she did not because what she saw inside shocked her. It was the Thompson cousins!
Covering her mouth and containing her surprise, she listened more.
"Do you think she can still remember that night?"
"Dang, I can't even recall what happened. Did we drink too much?"
It was like the whole earth was passed on her shoulders to carry when she heard what they were talking about.
'They know about it! They are even aware that I am there!'
As she moved closer to the door, what she heard made her gasp.
"I was already awake when Allison left, but I was too confused then to even ask her anything."
That was Brent Thompson who spoke. What he said made her knees wobble and for the love of heavens, she would rather want them to forget it than figure it all out! That even though she wanted answers to what truly happened and who devirginized her, she would not push through knowing because she wanted to live in peace.
"Damn, until now I'm still wondering how we ended up like that."
"So I am, Jacob. Who would want to wake up and see his naked cousins? Fuck. Still having nightmares about it."
"Kidding aside, do you really think something happened?"
"How are you going to explain Allison and her blood on the sheet if not?"
Denying everything in her head, she shook it and took a step back. They knew about her, they knew her name and that was Allison's biggest fear! She did not even know how they found out her name because she was just a non-existent student on campus, they would not even take a glance at her. So she wondered how they knew about her.
Shaking her head, she took another step back and was about to go when, all of the sudden, the door was fully opened and it revealed Brent Thompson who noticed her presence.
"You know it's rude to eavesdrop, right?" He asked seriously, which made her shudder.
Allison was so ready to run, but he pulled her in and showed her to his other cousins who were surprised at her listening to them of all people.
"Speaking of the devil," Nathan Thompson uttered while smirking in her direction.
With all her courage, she tried to get away from Brent's hold on her arm. "I have work," she almost whispered.
She saw how Gabriel's eyebrows furrowed while eyeing her.
"Not until you answer our questions, Allison," said Brent, who was already leaning on the wall, coldly gazing at her.
"Care to explain what happened that night?" It was Gabriel who asked her first.
But all she could do was stand there like a toad. How was she supposed to answer all those questions when even she did not know what occurred that night?
"How did you lead us there?"
"Do you recall everything?"
"Did we have a blast that night?"
Her eyes sent daggers to Nathan, the playboy among them when she heard his question. But her composure bent when she felt how overwhelmed she was with everything.
"Did you drug us?"
"How come we all ended up in the same bed with you?"
A series of questions were thrown at her and Allison started to feel really dizzy. Her insides were churning, her sight was moving abnormally and she felt so unwell that all she wanted to do was vanish in their sights.
And no matter how hard she tried to remember anything that night, she could not recall anything, not even a drop of memory. But their questions kept on doubling to the point that she felt so pressured.
"Why are you not answering?"
"Tell us, Allison— wait, where are you going?!"
In the end, with blurring eyes and a weakened body, she ran away from the room. The Thompsons tried to come after her and they even called her name multiple times.
"Allison!"
"Hey!"
But she did not stop running until she reached the exit of the company building. The sudden surge of weakness in her was too much. She knew that she would not be able to talk to them properly. And perhaps because of so much fear and pressure, it pushed her to run away from them.
Out of the building, she was able to breathe fine air and a lone tear dropped from her eyes. Her heart was rampaging and she thought it would get out of her chest.
While continuously running, she bumped into someone causing her to almost fall but the person held her arm and kept her still.
"Ali? Oh my goodness, why are you running?"
Her eyes squinted when she heard the familiar voice of Rachel. And when her eyes were clear, she realized that it was indeed her friend. But seeing her and pushing herself not to struggle only ended up compromising her unwell body more.
"You're pale!"
That was the last thing she heard before her eyes involuntarily closed and all she saw was black.
The familiar scent of the hospital room, and the sound and beeping of the equipment welcomed her when she opened her eyes.
Seeing that she was finally awake, Rachel held her hand, worry was evident in her eyes.
"Seriously, Ali? You made me so worried! Have you been pushing your body extremely these days?" The girl scolded her and sighed. "Sorry, I know you're not feeling well. Are you okay? Feeling strange anywhere?"
Thinking back, there was indeed something wrong with her the past few months. Especially during the morning, it was the worst time of her day.
"Come to think of it, I usually feel dizzy. There are also times I am vomiting a lot..." she uttered, scared that she might have a disease.
"Your body must be so tired of working and studying nonstop, Ali. Quit stressing yourself, okay?"
Of all people, Rachel was the one who knew her the best. She knew that her friend tended to be so hardworking to the point that she could not care less about her body. That she was pushing herself to the extreme, just so she could provide for her savings and her family.
Minutes later, the doctor came.
"Doc, is there something wrong with Allison? She told me she has been dizzy and she's even vomiting!"
Yet instead of what they were expecting, the physician smiled at them. It was odd to the point that she felt like something wrong would happen.
"Nothing's wrong, so don't worry," said the Doctor.
That baffled both of them.
"If there's nothing wrong with her, then what is the reason why she fainted? Isn't that alarming?" Rachel tried to ask again.
Seeing that the doctor was still smiling, Allison's stomach churned in nervousness. She felt like she would not want to hear what the physician would say next.
They were so confused not until the doctor said the news, "You need to take some rest and take care of yourself and your baby. Congratulations, Miss Allison. You are two months pregnant."
