Chapter 38. She Has to Go
That afternoon, Ellie went home with a troubled heart. Lilly's words weighed heavily on her mind.
She rushed into the kitchen to refresh herself with a glass of water. When she got there, the maid who had been with them since she was a kid was there prepping.
"Nanny, have I changed?" she asked while getting water from the fridge.
Ellie believed that if there was someone who changed, that wasn't her.
If there was anyone who could judge her situation better, it was their old maid. But she didn't seem to like what she said.
"Everyone goes through changes, my dear," she answered safely.
"Yes or No?" annoyed, she asked again.
"I know you're like that because of Brent, dear. But you're still young, and there will be more guys that will come into your life..."
