Chapter 42. Dead Serious
Jane’s heart raced wildly in her chest when she was ushered in to a room she was told Fredrick was waiting for her.
She suddenly had a second thought. Why were they meeting in a room? She was told it was a dinner. It had better not be what she was thinking. She thought of turning back but could not muster the courage to. Maybe she was just jumping to hasty conclusions.
She took in a deep breath and tried to regain her composure. She walked elegantly into the room with her shoulders high and her head straight up. It was one of the things she had learned, make you look confident while walking into a room or gathering.
The room was not as she thought. It was just a plain room like one used to entertain tourist. There was no bed in sight or any personal room belongings whatsoever. Perhaps Fredrick just wanted a more private place.
The room was brightened with cool light bulbs she had never seen. It was like the ones used in movies for a romantic dinner setting.
