Chapter 43. Getting Back

Alex was surprised at the speed at which his company returned. It was not like before, but it was gradually getting to where it was before the havoc. Their plans had worked but he had spent a lot of money.

They had been able to get most of the things that were taken away. And most of the workers that had left wanted to return but Alex rejected them and employed new people instead.

He sat in his office, making mental notes of all the work they had put in. His head was rested on the chair and his eyes closed. Alex felt a presence and opened his eyes. He was sure it would be no other person than Dave or Bob. He was surprised to see Bethany standing over his head. He quickly sat up.

“How did you get in here?” he asked her.

“Relax,” she smiled at him sweetly. “At least, offer me a seat before questioning me.”

She did not wait for him to offer one before sitting on one of the chairs opposite his and dropped her bag on the table.
