Chapter 144. Resistance

There was a tensed silence for a while. Hilda found this one interesting. She wanted to see if Alex would shout down at his mother the way he did her so she could mock them. She would be glad at least, that they had still been able to get him on their side. He had spoken off his father and it remains this woman. Hilda waited patiently, expectantly.

Somehow, Lisa was confident Alex was going to listen to her. She did not know what gave her the confidence, but she felt it strongly. Perhaps, it was the look in his eyes earlier that had given her such assurance.

Sinclair did not know what to think. He was still trying to nurse the fact that his son might never be able to forgive him. Alex tried so hard to get the words to fire back at his mother, but that was it. Just like he had called her his mother now, he saw her as that for the very first time.
