Chapter 163. Toil of Friendship
The kitchen filled with noises of pans and plates against each other and the occasional burst of laughter. Jane and Dave moved in dance movement with no music as they prepared dinner together. Jane was cutting the vegetables carefully on the counter while Dave stood by the pot on the fire and stirred the hot content.
“Pass me the oregano, girl” Dave called over his shoulder, his voice light and cheerful.
Jane smiled, reaching for the small jar of herbs and handing it to him.
“Here you go. Don’t use too much, though. You always overdo it. And what happened to calling me a sweet name. Who’s your girl?” Jane asked playfully ad with a feigned scowl.
Dave grinned, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “You are my girl, and you know you love my cooking, overdone oregano and all.”
She laughed, shaking her head. “Maybe I do and next time, add the ‘my’ on the girl for better clarity and to avoid a hot spatula on your face.”
