Chapter 167. Mother-in-Law’s Visit

Isabella moved around the bedroom slowly. She meticulously placed Alexander’s shirts into the wardrobe working in silence and absentmindedly. She needed to do something to take her mind off the sorrow that had so heavily laced it.

But she could not work on her designs when she sat to it. She needed her mind to be there, in the work and it was not. So she settled for something that did not require her to think too much.

She was interrupted by a gentle knock on the door. She turned round and saw Peggy, standing by the door. She raised her brow at her questioningly when Peggy stood there in silence for a while.

“Is everything okay?” Isabella had to ask before Peggy spoke.

“Yes, ma’am,” she said. “Your mother in law is here to see you. She is in the living room.”

Isabella’s heart sank a bit at the news. She was not in the mood to see or speak to anyone, especially not now. However, she nodded.

“Alright, Peggy. Thank you. I’ll be right down.”
