Chapter 164. Not Pushing On
Lisa stood in front of the large mirror, adjusting the dress she had worn on her body. Everything she was putting on, including the necklace and earrings were all gifts from her daughter-in-law, Isabella.
Sinclair and Hilda had made sure she was left with nothing. But Isabella reached out, and the young woman had offered support and kindness when Lisa needed it the most.
Satisfied with her looks, she reached for her handbag on the small bed she was managing since she got kicked out of her husband’s room. Just then, she heard a soft knock on the door. Not sure who she was expecting, she paused, her hand hovering over the bag, and turned to see Sinclair standing at the door. It would have been Hilda or Sinclair, she had contemplated. And she did not know she could tolerate between the two.
Sinclair’s presence filled the room with an air of uncertainty and tension. He looked out of place, a ghost of the past seeking solace in the familiar yet distant present.
