[Book 2] Chapter 1. Revenge and Beginnings
Outside, the streets welcomed the night and darkness enveloped it. Maxwell puffed a cigarette and released the smoke through very small openings of his lips. He stood by the window of his room upstairs, and watched the activities below, cars and humans moving. It would have been one of those nights he would be crouching in the darkness, only attracted to the pockets of trousers and skirts passing by. It was the only way he could afford to eat.
He remembered how he would go days without eating anything. His stomach growled, not because of hunger but anger instead. Whenever the memories came, his stomach could never forget what it felt like, the scars made from wounds of the hunger biting his stomach, were still there after all the wealth he had amassed.
