Maxwell scoffed in unbelief. He was standing by the window in his office, out of character but he was not looking down the streets this time around, but staring blankly at the glass. His fist was tucked in his pocket so he did not have to hit it on the table.
He turned round to face his mother sitting elegantly on the chair before him with an air of importance. She was doing well, he could see. And it seemed she had been using all the money he sent her on her body.
He drummed his fingers on the table silently as he fixed his gaze on her. She looked back at him for a while till his eyes seemed to be boring into her skin, and she had to look away.
