Caleb gulped his saliva and wondered how to sympathize with his friends but he does not know how Maurice felt towards the whole thing.
An affair is a huge scandal for the aristocrat and for a marriage that is still fresh, it would not be taken lightly.
"Why did you think like that?" Caleb asked and Maurice raised his head at him. "What did you mean?" Maurice asked not understanding his friend's question and the man was even perturbed about his friend's cluelessness.
"Don't you say your wife is having an affair?" Caleb asked and Maurice nodded his head in affirmation. "Then tell me what you noticed about her that makes you conclude that your wife is having an affair".
"Ohh you meant that," Maurice mumbled and he went on to talk about how he and Hadley went to the Sanders party and she denied knowing Nicholas whereas they have had an encounter.
