Chapter 55
Hadley does not know why she suddenly does not want to hear the man say anything again. It was like she would not be able to handle the truth.
“I was eleven years back then, and we were having a party at the ancestral mansion, but I got overwhelmed by the number of people at the party that I went out for some air, Maurice says, closing his eyes as he would rather not relish the memories at all.
“That was the last thing I remembered,” he says and Hadley was beyond speechless. She could already picture the scenario, but she knew she could not possibly ask him to stop talking when she was the one who asked him to tell her everything, but it was more than what she bargained for.
“My uncle got me kidnapped to get my grandfather to hand over the group to him….isn't that funny?” Maurice joked, but Hadley could sense the pain in his voice.
