The news about Ella's death reached the Elliott's family, and they all rushed down to the police station to confirm it because it was unbelievable to them.
“Where is my son?” Mrs. Elliot asked, and the police officers took her to Maurice, who was sulking at the check room where Hadley's body was placed.
“Maurice.” Mrs. Elliot called slowly as she walked to Maurice, but the man didn't bother to look at her. “They are telling a lie, Mom. They are all saying that the woman on that table is my wife, how can that be?” Maurice blurted, and his mother's feast aches watching her son suffer so much.
Her eyes trailed to the body on the table, which was covered with clothes, and she knew that officers couldn't be wrong with the identity. “Maurice, please, I'm sure that they couldn't be wrong with the identity of the body..” Mrs. Elliot was saying, but Maurice cut her off.
