Aria

Lucas is looking at me like I just told him I’m secretly a mermaid or some shit. His eyebrows shoot up, and then he slowly shakes his head.

“Aria, you can’t possibly believe what that guy said, right?”

Oh, here we freaking go.

“Lucas, come on. You don’t even know what he told me or how he said it,” I say, already getting defensive, because yeah…it sounded crazy, but it also felt… real. “At least hear me out before you start waving the red flag.”

“That’s because he’s lying,” Lucas snaps, arms folded. “He’s lying, Aria.”

I just shake my head. “Okay, fine. Let’s break it down. You wanna know what he said? I’ll tell you. According to Mark, Alpha Marcel is my actual birth father. Apparently, he sent my mom away with her bodyguard to keep me safe or something like that.”

I lay it all out for him. The whole damn story, exactly how Mark dumped it on me like an emotional truckload.

By the time I’m done, Lucas is sighing so much, I’m
