“What… who did you see?” Lucas asks, helping me sit down on the bed before crouching in front of me.
“It was a woman,” I say, still feeling lightheaded. “She was short, had long black hair, a round face… and she was crying. I don’t even fucking know. She looked super distressed or something.”
“And you saw her when you looked at the necklace?” he asks, picking it up from where I dropped it.
“Yeah, and it felt so fucking real, like I was standing right there with her.”
Lucas studies the necklace, turning it over in his hand like it’s a goddamn bomb or something. “It’s not glowing anymore,” he says, then looks back at me with that serious, brooding face he loves to pull. “What do we do?”
