“Aria, I’m telling you, there’s nothing to be scared of. I mean, yeah, the Hollow sect are creepy as hell and all that, but Alpha Marcel’s got the resources. He’s got the people, the connections. You’re safe here,” Mark says the second we step into the living room, like he’s trying to sell me on a damn vacation package.

But I can’t move. Can’t even think straight. I’m just standing there, numb as shit. Like… is it really that deep? They actually wanna kill me? Like dead-dead?

“Aria, you good?” Lucas asks, reaching for my hand. I nod, even though I feel like my insides are doing the Salsa.

“I’m fine. Just need a sec to breathe,” I mutter, letting him lead me to the couch. He chooses to stand like he’s on guard duty or something.

“You know what, we need to end this bullshit. Go get Alpha Marcel. I need that man to spell it out…what exactly does Aria need to do to stop all this crap? What’s her role in this mess?” Lucas blurts out, clearly done
