Sarah's POV

Tears filled my eyes at once.

"Detective James, please," I say, my voice cracking with emotion.

"I know I've made mistakes, but I'm begging you, have mercy. Let me go home under house arrest, for my daughter's sake." I begged earnestly.

"My daughter needs me, and I need her. I promise to cooperate fully, to do everything you need me to do, just please, don't take me away from her." I asked.

I could see the hesitation in his eyes, and I press on, desperate to appeal to whatever humanity is left in him.

"Think about it, Detective. My daughter will be given up for adoption, and I'll never see her again. Is that really what you want?" I said.

 "To tear a mother away from her child, to deprive them both of the love and connection they need?" I asked him.
