Chapter 47. Backfires

Ellie’s POV

Saddened by what I just saw, my heart shattered into a million pieces.

This is what I was afraid of, this is what made me hesitant about letting him in. I thought he was different.

Tears rolled down my cheeks forcing me to wipe them away. I stood there for some seconds which felt like an eternity. I didn’t believe what I saw.

I turned away and headed straight to the elevator.

I just pressed any button on there as all I wanted was to leave his side.

I suddenly find myself in a flashback of what had brewed between us.

All the kindness and the meals he brought. All the praises and all the good memories we had.

The door opened and without looking I went out of the elevator. The floor looked unfamiliar as I went deeper.

It took me a few minutes to realize I had pressed the wrong button so I headed back to the elevator.

I got back and waited for the elevator to arrive before getting in.
