Chapter 48. All This Is Your Fault

Ellie’s POV

“Ellie!” I heard from a distance and I recognized that that voice belonged to James.

I’m in a very terrible state, and an encounter with James wouldn’t yield anything useful, so I had to figure out a way out of here fast.

Fortunately for me, the exit was just a few steps away, so I headed there. It seemed I wasn’t fast enough as he caught up to me and held my palms.

The only reason I didn’t scream was because I was tired.

“Hey Ellie,” he said calmly. It almost made me think that he wouldn’t cause trouble this time.

“James,” I replied as I halted.

“What a pleasant surprise,” I added and forced a smile on my face.

“It is surprising. You here for the meeting?” he asked. And so far so good we haven’t gotten into any misunderstanding just yet.

“Meeting? Not sure of what you are talking about, but I’m about to leave,” I said.

“Oh okay then,” he said.
