Bethany’s POV

As I was putting his belongings away, I discovered a journal among them. I was at a loss for words, but the journal bothered me, and I couldn’t help but stare at it as I packed his belongings. My hand slowly moved to touch it as my curiosity grew. I jumped to my feet when Jacob entered the room, and his eyes widened when he saw the journal in my hand. He caught me red-handed, so it would be useless for me to lie to escape.

“Can you identify this item?”

As he approached me, his jaw clenched, and he attempted to take my journal, but I resisted. He stated, “You are not permitted to read that.”
