Chapter 264. Arc’s Fur

My eyes scanned the room for Chantel; a fear lingered in me that she might have leapt out of the window or worse, but what I found was far worse.
I noticed Chantel looking down at her wrist and hand in amazement.
There's vivid red blood dripping down her hand, near her wrist. My immediate impression was that she did it on purpose; given the gun episode, that wouldn't surprise me.
But her words soothed me.
"It was an accident, I promise," she said, her eyes tearing up. "I saw my reflection in the mirror, and I—"
While she explains what occurred, I take a towel and rush to approach her to stop the bleeding.
When I do that, I see that the cut isn't very deep and doesn't get close to her wrist. Not as close as I first imagined.
"Are you angry with me? I assure you it was an accident. I wouldn't—"
