Instead of allowing her to lose her mind, I take the initiative. This way, no one can sit at my other side, which is exactly what Chantel wants. She squeezes herself against my side, not even a breeze of air can pass between us. She's glued to me.

As her eyes roam over my face, she softens her stare a little. She sounds out of breath when she hums, "Much better." Her eyes move down towards her hand; she's clenching my arm and she hadn't even caught sight of it. I slide my hand up, clasping hers in mine. Chantel twists her head to the side; I know she's hiding her smile.
I wish she wouldn't withhold that from me. It's the world's prettiest sight, it's otherworldly. I keep my eyes on her even when I hear the others proceed to converse, even when she isn't looking at me anymore. She's so beautiful, it wounds me. It really hurts me,
