Chantel smiles softly, "His mark on me will be gone for good," she says, her eyes flickering with determination.
"It will be. As will he. Soon." I reply, my tone reflecting a quiet resolve.
After a moment of silence, she speaks up again, "Do you think I made the right decision?" She fidgets with the hem of her shirt, seeking reassurance.
"About what, my love?" I ask gently, reaching out to brush a strand of hair from her face.
"Letting them find out this way? I just couldn't talk about it again. Even when I talked about it with you I couldn't tell you everything. I couldn't relive it," she admits, her voice wavering with the weight of her past.
