Chapter 393. Soothing Guidance

My mind is foggy; I can't seem to hear the people talking to me. Zave is right in front of me, crouched down as he speaks.
I squint my eyes because I can't hear him. It's scary—I've never experienced it like this before. Nothing. Not one sound.
When I feel a hand on my shoulder, I flinch away. I think I'm saying something, but it's like no one can hear me. And in some bizarre way, I would prefer to be alone now.
So that's what I do. I rush towards the bathroom, and they don't try to stop me. Or maybe I can't feel or hear them.
My heart's beating in my head, in my ears. That's probably what's deafening me.
Someone enters the bathroom, and I glance up at them. Lewis is speaking, but I can't hear him. He motions for me to sit down on the ground. I suppose he said that on purpose because the cold tile is soothing. Shit.
