Chapter 476. Coffee or Tea

"Tariq's driving. Why don't you rest? You still seem tired."

"I am," I agree, letting out a sigh. Aldric puts his arm around me, and I lean against him. He wipes something wet off my face and hands me a napkin. I try to sleep because it feels better with him hugging me.

Maybe I just needed a hug? I'm not sure, but it feels nice and comforting.

But sleep doesn't come. I'm too confused by everyone's sadness. Even Laurence seems really down. He's just sitting there, motionless.

In a spontaneous act of kindness, I decided to hold his hand to show my support. He's too tired and sad to refuse, so he lets me. I can tell he finds some comfort in it when his grip on my hand tightens.

We reach the castle quickly. I happily jump out and rush upstairs to the suite. It seems like everyone's moving slowly again.
