I nod again and this time Lexcis's expression turns even softer, sadder even, "Come here," he says as he pulls me into his arms, "Fuck, darling. Now I'm really fucking upset."

"Why?" I frown, glancing up at him.

"Just you having dinner by yourself and then falling asleep here... Fuck, I hate that. Come on, we're going to bed."

"Wait," I say before he can tug me into our room. "This is for you." I take the plate I prepared for him off of the light fire that kept it warm and place it on the table with wheels.
