Evelyn’s POV

Oh God! I hadn’t realized I’d been dead for seven years—not until Nathan kissed me.

The second his lips touched mine, the world as I knew it shifted. There was no stopping my body’s reaction, no holding back the rush of emotions that flooded me.

I couldn’t. I wouldn’t.

That kiss was unlike anything I’d felt in seven long years. Holy hell! It wasn’t just a kiss—it was life. It was everything I’d missed. Everything I’d craved.

The only other kiss I’d shared was with Victor. That flat and hollow, meaningless kiss during the engagement ceremony.
