Chapter 29. Expose Victor or Not
Nathan’s POV
She was the last person I expected to see in a place like this. Evelyn.
The moment she walked into the casino, everything else blurred. My heart, which had been beating steadily all night, seemed to stop for a minute, then picked up in a wild, erratic rhythm.
Even if the room had been completely dark, even if I had been blindfolded, I would’ve known it was her.
That’s how much I knew her.
And not just her face. I knew every curve, every inch of her body. I knew how her lips quivered when she was nervous, how her shoulders would get suddenly tensed when she was uncomfortable.
She stood near the entrance, her wide eyes scanning the room, looking so out of place. So innocent.
I could see the discomfort in her stance from across the room.
The way her fingers fidgeted at her side, the slight twitch of her lips as if she were fighting the urge to scowl.
She looked irritated, disgusted even. And I couldn’t blame her.
