Chapter 32. Protect Her

Nathan’s POV

I followed Aiden’s advice—at least, I told myself I did—but even before I reached her, Evelyn had already spotted me from the bar.

I saw how she stared at me and even if she hadn’t said anything yet. I could tell what was going through her mind.

And I knew she was going to swamp me with a whole lot of questions.

But God, she was beautiful, even here in a place she didn’t belong.

And I still wasn’t sure what I was going to do.

I was still contemplating in my mind if I should tell her about Victor. Should I? Should I pull her aside and shatter the illusion before it crushed her?

Aiden thought I should, that it was better for her to know now than to find out later. And after she knew, I would finally claim her as mine.

But the truth was, I wasn’t sure I wanted to tell her for the right reasons.

It wasn’t just about saving her from Victor’s lies. It was about me. I couldn’t stand the thought of them together.
