Chapter 39. An Answer
Evelyn’s POV
Sophia stood up abruptly and walked to the far end of the bar. I watched her go, looking confused.
I wasn’t sure what she was up to, but I knew Sophia well enough to sense when she was up to something.
I knew her when she was up to something and when she was hiding something. I could tell.
I sipped from my glass, my mind wandering back to Nathan — as it always did when I found myself in quiet moments.
Sophia had been my rock through it all. When Nathan died, I couldn’t show my grief in front of anyone — not even my father. Especially not him.
He never knew about Nathan and me. Nathan was just a warrior, one of the lowest ranks in the pack. My father would have never approved.
So there was no way I could show much emotion when he was around. I had to acted like his death and other warriors meant absolutely nothing to me.
