Chapter 41. Passed out at the Wrong Timing

Evelyn’s POV

I melted. Or maybe I froze. I wasn’t even sure which it was anymore.

For the first time in seven years—seven long years—I had something real. An answer.

Something to hold on to after all the endless questions and painful assumptions that had haunted me.

After how he had treated me so coldly, now I was certain that he probably didn’t mean to hurt me.

And though it wasn’t Nathan who gave me those words, a part of me believed Caleb. I didn’t know why—I just did.

Maybe because it felt true. Deep down, I’d always known Nathan still loved me.

I felt it in the way my heart skipped when I thought of him, in the way his name echoed in my dreams. He loved me. He still loved me.

Even in the way he looks at me and can’t even hold himself.

I knew he was just trying so hard to get away from me and I had no idea why but now I knew that he actually still loves me.

Caleb’s words echoed in my head, wrapping around my hear
