Chapter 60. What Was I?

Evelyn’s POV

I sat on the edge of the bed, staring at nothing in particular, my mind was just in a mess that I couldn’t get it out of.

The room still smelled of him—of us—and I hated that it made my stomach twist in ways I didn’t want to admit.

What had happened last night? That question couldn’t leave my head. Did it mean something to him? Or was it just another fun round for him?

Deep down, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to know the truth. Because knowing would hurt—no, it would destroy me.

I felt used, discarded, as though I were nothing more than a passing indulgence for Nathan and this wasn’t the first time.

Only that this time, it wasn’t just anywhere. This time, he’d done it under my roof.

I stood up from the bed as I recalled that the door wasn’t locked and anyone could walk in. Most especially my father.

I quickly walked up to the door and locked it instantly. I didn’t want anyone to know I spent the night there.
