Chapter 71. The Unexpected
I felt aches on my back and around my abdomen and it made me miserable. It was hurting like I was on my monthly misery which I believed was around the corner. I slipped out of bed and went to see uncle. He lay on his bed breathing slowly. Mary had ensured me that he was going to be fine in a few days.
"I'm sorry," I apologized, holding his hand in mine.
"I'm sorry I placed you in this condition. Now I understand what you've always told me about father. He's a demon and demons cannot change. He's bargaining my life in exchange for the lives of the pack. I know what is expected of me, uncle, but I'm scared. With all he does, I still find compassion in my heart for him. I should be really angry he tried to kill you, but I find myself not. What should I do, uncle? Tell me, please. I'm willing to listen now." I said as I placed my head on his hand, tears slipping from my eyes.
