Chapter 178
Kieran’s POV
The stench of blood hits me before I even reach the clearing. The closer we get, the stronger it grows until it’s almost suffocating. My wolf growls inside me. Something dark is here. Something vile.
“Alpha,” one of the scouts gasps as he runs up beside me. “It’s the sacred portal… it’s…gods….it’s corrupted. We tried to hold them off but—”
I don’t let him finish. I break into a run. Branches snap against my arms as I tear through the forest, my warriors close behind me, running with the same speed that I was. The night is unnaturally bright, the Blood Moon glaring red through the trees like a watching eye.
When I break through the last line of trees and see the clearing and God!
I freeze. Chaos. Just chaos here
The ground is scorched black in uneven circles. Bodies are in the ground , some breathing, some not littering the edges of the battlefield. I spot Harper kneeling over Valerie, pressing glowing hands against her wounds
