Chapter 249

Sienna’s POV

The world throws me out. At least that is what it feels like.

One second, we were just arguing in the temple. Another second, Selene’s voice breaking in my ears. The next—cold air slams into my lungs so hard I choke on it. My knees hit the ground before I even understand where I am. The portal snaps shut behind us.

“No—” The word tears out of me before I can stop it. I twist around so fast my body almost gives out, my hands reaching for something that is not there anymore.

“Selene!” Nothing answers, nobody answers me.

All I heard was the sound of people gasping for breath around me and Selene was not found among them.

My chest tightens so violently I can’t breathe. I crawl forward on my hands, my fingers digging into the soil like I can rip the ground open and drag her back out.

“Selene!” My voice cracks. “Selene, please—!”
