I looked at Dove, who was distraught after talking to the boy; she looked very distressed. I didn’t know what to say to comfort her. The boy didn’t have many options to get help; his life had been so sad. At least now his grandfather couldn’t hurt him anymore. Larry ended his life, and he had one less enemy on his list.
I hugged her so she didn’t feel alone. She burst into tears, safe in my arms. I kissed her on the forehead and then on the lips, sensing that she was addicted to me.
In all the time of isolation, I thought of her as a spirit I needed near me, but I couldn’t see her; she wouldn’t understand. In my solitude, I saw no one; no one deserved the insults that came out of me. I preferred solitude as the only company for that moment.
