Chapter 241. On the Edge

Realizing it was a ritual was easy. It was the ending that worried me. I felt the fever rising and rising until it almost made me hallucinate. I shivered with cold, as if I was under the snow that longed to freeze every one of my bones and then break me.
“Jason, don’t lose focus,” said my grandfather’s voice, singing that annoying song that was stuck in my head again.
“Bunch of lunatics,” I said with disdain, trying to close my eyes to sleep and ignore everything they were doing.
They had smeared my face and I still had no idea why. The tingling in my feet kept rising, they were trying to achieve something that seemed so absurd to me.
“Tachje, the words we will say now are only for your mercy,” began another man, who had a more irritating voice than anyone I had ever met in my life. “Have mercy, Lord! For this skeptical boy!”
It made me laugh just hearing them speak with such a funny tone. But it was disrespectful and the man gave me a murde
