Seeing Sallie on the floor, her face and body bruised and battered, was quite a disheartening sight. The poor thing was now suffering in silence after the couple had told her not to scream if she wanted to stay alive.

“Damn it, if we’re in the middle of the jungle, who the hell’s going to hear me?” Sallie asked angrily on the ground.

The woman told him to be quiet again. The man looked at me sternly and for a few seconds I thought he was going to punch me right in the face. But he held back, who knows why.

“You will not stay in our area. We had a hard time staying here.” He threatened me. He said, his eyes fixed on me.

“We didn’t mean to; we’re just passing through. Let’s go to Colbert.” I said to calm things down.

“Well, you’re getting sidetracked, boy. Because the road to Colbert is shorter through the fields.” He went on, looking almost grim. He had an unkempt appearance, though he looked strong.
