Chapter 278. Decision in Marriage

“You have the right to start your life over. If you want to come with us, I promise to take care of you until you no longer want me to. I will not abandon you,” I said, with the utmost sincerity my heart.
As the days passed together, I realized that I didn’t love her. I had not yet found someone who would conquer my heart in that way. I did appreciate her and enjoyed being with her, but not in the way that people loved each other unconditionally. But even so, I would take care of her until the end of the war, because she deserved it. She had to be able to live a free and happy life, with a man who truly loved her.
She smiled back at me and looked again at her unfortunate husband, who was still lying on the ground, breathing. Then she turned and mounted the horse.
“Let’s go, it’s time to leave,” was all she said before urging the horse forward.
The others followed her and I stayed there for a few more seconds. I left Kassem his corresponding ration
