“He fainted,” Sallie said, as we all scrambled to help Jason.

I looked at Tachje, trying to think what would save him if he had something serious. Jason was taken to one of the rooms. Lucero didn’t move from his side.

Tachje entered the room with a needle and thread in his hands. That didn’t give me a good feeling.

“What’s happening?” I asked, scared of what might happen to my friend.

I didn’t even want to think about what they might have to do to him. Now that we were going to separate. The situation changed abruptly. I didn’t know or have a clear idea of what we would do to carry out the plan. I cursed, it was all that damn Tom’s fault.

I should have killed him when I had the chance. Then he wouldn’t have caused so much trouble.

“Is he too badly hurt?” I asked again. “Do we have to sew him up…?” I didn’t even know what to ask specifically.

I let out a groan of despair when he didn’t answer me. That must have irritated him.
