Chapter 382. Home Is Not a Place

It was time to leave. Again, at least, if nothing bad happened. Lucero held my hand and helped me to my feet. Having to rest was a waste of time. Tachje made that clear to me. Plettekman was moving faster than we were and we had to meet up with the others as soon as possible.

“Well, you know what to do,” Tachje said, looking at me sternly.

I nodded. The plan had mutated. We had to find Dove and the others to defend the Count’s castle. Tachje assured us that Plettekman would attack first, he wouldn’t let them lay siege to the castle. During my stay here I could see why the castle was so important to him. It had a lot of history, a lot of magic, and a lot of influence from what they called gods still superior in power. Plettekman would not lose his dominion over the kingdom.

Marielle clung to Lucero. Tachje told us that the portal to return was in a hatch located on one of the upper floors. It didn’t inspire any confidence at all.
