Chapter 23. Disputed

Lucas was eager to get to the bottom of what has happened at the morgue. Immediately after his father left, he quickly made his way to the sitting room.

“Hey Jane!” he said as he approached the sofa Jane was sitting on. “Are your parents out for today?” he whispered.

“Mom is preparing breakfast. Why?”

“Something has happened at the morgue and I want to check it out.”

On hearing this, Jane adjusted on the sofa switching her attention to Lucas. “What happened?” she inquired with curiosity.

“The corpses of my friends are gone and the diener lying dead in the pool of his blood. His heart was ripped out.”

Jane stares with disbelief and at the same time wonders who might have taken the corpses. She couldn’t help but ask, “And how did you know all this?” She’s quite certain that Lucas hasn’t left the house and there’s no possible way for him to know about the incident at the morgue.
