Chapter 36. Brief Moment of Happiness
Ellie nodded her head vigorously, then meowed insistently. Emily was still dazed when someone knocked on the door. She thought it was Wolfgang returning, so she turned to open the door, but no one was there. She felt something soft touch her foot and jerked back, only to see a black and silver animal with deep purple eyes looking at her pitifully.
"Oa--" Emily was momentarily stunned as the dog rubbed against her, about to bend down and pet it, but Ellie stood beside her, looking at it as if it were a demon, and screamed in fear: "Meo meo meo meo ..."
Emily was scared by Ellie's cry and saw the fur on the animal's body stand up. Its green eyes stared straight ahead, revealing two sharp fangs as it continuously growled at the black dog.
Emily realized that cats and dogs were not exactly compatible and guessed that Ellie probably hated this dog. She quickly petted Ellie's head and put her on the sofa: "Don't be afraid, I'll protect you. This dog is probably lost. I'll go ou
