Cassandra’s POV

We were well past the place we had gone to train and was even further from where the chase had started and at this point, we found no sign of the wolves that had chased us earlier. I and Alexa crouched down to catch our breaths.

I had panted heavily. I had carried her throughout the entirety of the journey back to the Abode as her legs were too tiny to run as fast as I ran. Honestly speaking, it was not completely easy to escape the chase of three wolves while carrying a child and stuck in your human form because you cannot transmute to at least be their equal in speed and agility.

As we rested our backs against the trees just in front of the Abode, a ruffle in the trees was heard and I could feel my heart almost fail as Alexa made a reckless run for where she perceived to be safety.
