Chapter 29. The Escape
Dracula released his tight grip on Lilith enough to examine her wounds. Some were superficial around her arms and would heal within a day or two, but the others were deep and close to her neck. Those would take far longer. Her body limped weakly in his arms as he examined her for more wounds around her legs.
He shed a blood-stained tear when he saw the exposed bone on her right thigh.
“Oh darling, I told you I had a bad feeling about this. I almost lost you today.” He said as he stroked her hair.
“It is alright, Drake. I just need a little time and some Dark Sleep.”
“I never want to exist without you.” He said as he kissed her forehead. “We are going back to England. And I don’t want any arguments from you. Of course, you kind of can’t argue with me since we are on a boat already. I made that executive decision while you were unconscious. Once we get to England, you can take up refuge in my coffin for your Dark Sleep.” He said as he pulled her close to his ch
