Chapter 21

I'd just told Freya that I loved her. She stood in front of me with her mouth wide open in pure shock. The color drained out of her face, and before I had a chance to say anything else, she grabbed her bra, got dressed and sprinted towards the door. I managed to grab a hold of her arm and spin her around to face me.
“Freya, say something,” I begged her.
She looked up at me while snatching her arm out of my grip.
“I’m sorry, Sam. I can’t do this. I can't be who you need me to be, I can’t give you want you want. I'm sorry, I just can’t.”
Her brows were knitted together with sadness and her eyes were seconds away from letting her tears fall. I didn’t know if she meant that she didn’t love me back, or if she couldn’t. If she was in love with another, or what she really meant. She didn’t give me a chance to ask. She unlocked the door and ran out slamming it behind her. I dropped my head down and sighed while resting up against the desk.
