Mason screeched into the sky, while Evan and Damien groaned and writhed around behind me. I turned to glance at them and gasped. I saw them fighting tooth and nail to stop themselves from ascending.
This is bad, this is very bad, I thought to myself. If they both ascend too, there is no way I can hold three of them off, they'll rip Tristan limb from limb.
I tried to think of something I could do, but the only thing I could think of would only bide us a few more seconds or minutes at the most.
I jumped right in the middle of Tristan and Mason's line of view, hoping that seeing me stuck in the middle of them would somehow snap them out of it. It didn't, and neither of them paid me any attention at all, they were both too focused on each other. I thought of one last thing that might work to distract them, it was risky, and I wished I didn't have to do it, but if they started fighting I would lose them both. Mason would kill Tristan,
