Amelia’s POV

“What could you possibly have to do so urgently that you can’t wait to get discharged by the hospital?” I probed further because ever since Nolan said he had something to take care of, it had been on my mind and was really bothering me, so I had to find out what it was.

He had refused to tell me the first time but the more I thought about it, the more it stayed on my mind and made me get so worried that he could get in some kind of life threatening trouble again that would make the whole thing so much worse.

“You got wounded really bad, Nolan. I almost lost you, so please, I am sure whatever it is you have to take care of isn’t worth your life, so please just drop it. You don’t have to do anything to protect me from Sophie, so just drop it, let it slide, I almost lost you, and I cannot lose you a second time.” I pleaded with him as I reached out to hold his hand.

He held mine really tight and pulled me closer as if he didn’t want me to fal
